Device market is not a guess

I talked with my grandma, yesterday, and I was really happy to reconnect with her. She is a simple person, educated but without a formal education, let's say the average good person of this world. Simple people prefer simplicity to a cognition task, they have no interest to become hackers either true, after years, they love to accumulate stuff in the garage to save them for the bad days. If my grandma was rich probably her golden garage was full of interesting stuff like ebooks, ipods, voice recorders, wide surface displays and so forth.. Simple devices target simple persons but require a budget that generally speaking is not in the possibility of these people social status.

After talked with grandma, by case, I met Eric, kind of hacker, guru, alien. Eric is really an interesting guy, short hair, everyday a nice shirt, a salut when necessary, with a good education. Eric problem is his insane love for cognition surfing, something that bilions of simple people can't understand neither recognize. Eric dilemma like at school is still betting on himself and his attitude to compete and he finds really interesting any open system that permit him his, nowdays, natural cognitive job: pc, tablet, smartphone and eventually today tv. Eric has a good economical status but like many things he trys to spend enough consciously browsing - by cognition tasks - Amazon and the electronic stores. Indeed, he will never try to stick on simple stuff avoiding "the garage umiliation".

Saluting, consciously Eric, I met, by case, NeverPossible, a chinese guy, simple person, without formal education and without religion. NeverPossible differently from the western peers doesn't know about some generic social good stuff, he has no budget to spend but he likes to invests anyway in hacker's stuff, after all stuff by the greatest instrinsic value. Indeed, NeverPossible doesn't feel "the garage umiliation" partcularly nocive.

While I was with NeverPossible inside the club, our female singer friend, BuddaGrasp, started the show. BuddaGrasp is a very nice girl who doesn't miss anything about relationship and economical status, if not something more in the social. She prefers the simpler stuff to the hacker's ones because after all her good formal education doesn't require a cognitive effort in electronics too. Indeed, she often prefers a good friend to the pc or the tv. BuddaGrasp reppresents the chinese simple human.

With the sunset, I come back home where I found my brother dealing angry with the last generation tv. Guys like my bro, simple people without a formal education, but with badget, do not like a lot hackers' stuff, if not necessary. They like playing a lot - on the right device - but cognitive surfing is not for them.

I helped my brother with the tv and closing the lights I started to sleep.
Baby, this is not touch yet..

Let's say it clearly: it is difficult to conceive the pc like a comodity product, with a simple, intuitive and stardard interface when product managers play to launch something similar to a dancing bear every 1-2 years.

Then, if you check by case among the technologies never and ever supported on the market strangely you find out "the touch", a promising technology that not only every baby asks for facing any surface similar to a screen, but something, the touch, that penetrating the market puts at risk the business: wider market (the display's one), classic interface and - permit me to say - classic fears.

So, let's continue to argue with childrens "baby, this is not touch yet" keeping for us the fact that time to time adults forget about good stuff..
Joke, I won't be a Support Engineer!

Our waiters are not!

Since 1990, resource strings, menu and icons have been changed with the arrival of any new os interface. Indeed, today a Support Engineer will never support Windows 3.1!

Lucky guys, in this caffe we are not planning to change way to order a coffee..
Why the bear dance is really wrong?

Counterclock, Alan Cooper told us: "Our obsession for the digital products remember me the story of that old man coming to the fish square pushing a jiant bear by a chain. And asking a tip he was making dancing the bear. All the inhabitants were running to partecipate to the show of the bear that starving was waving its big body on two legs. The bear dance was an agly eandover to watch to, but the beauty was not the dance itself but just the fact the bear was able to dance. And the Web is the biggest dancing bear ever seen".

Indeed we accept every innovation just because digital without asking ourselves what are the real benefits brought by those new products or services, how they have been designed and what are the cons of that design and if, maybe, there was a better way to make the same stuff..

Footnote: Alan Cooper, aka the Visual Basic father, is a software engineer focused on software design and interaction design.
Horizontal experience

Hello guys,

Please look at this gifs, how this classic games scenography gets horizontally explored -in a fantastic and intuitive way- and then think how you experience yet papers or books and then tell me how much annoying and wrong is today digital documents or web pages access in vertical fashion, mh?

The proposal could sound too "classic" at first but what about to replace Single Page patterns or long web pages with an horizontal browsing experience (eventually by scrolling too) ?

In the end, there will be a reason to use the largest side of the screen, mh?!

Joke: Friend or foe?

Our client just asked us a funny stuff: "Hey guys, what do you think about the following?"

https://api.webmail.tim.it/auth/oauth/v2/authorize/login?action=display&;sessionID=db5ce0ca-45de-4f56-84d4-864ce25f078d&sessionData=eyJ0eXAiOiJKV1QiLCJhbGciOiJIUzI1NiJ9.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

And added: "Friend or foe?"
Escape from Simplicity - the movie

If there is a teaching for a software developer, probably (after "dont worry to lose files" and "yes everything but in 5sec") the most actual one is "our own duty is to simplify" (our mission, our passion..). And these days you will listen to this call in a strange way - I'm sure - cause "the movie" is going on and the escape from Simplicity (our "soul") is evident. Because after given us the easie of Html.. version 5 got ground. Because after worked with the easie of CSS.. someone prop us to compile it. Because choosing the right Javascript framework.. it should never be enough easy (this is why apart jQuery, 10-15 javascript frameworks exist!). And don't take us for the batt on "the backend side". Because the TcpIp stack is too easy.. much better stack version 6! Because vanilla php is too easy for a development guy.. and here come the php frameworks.. But maybe we should think ourselves as lucky guys: in the end they give us Doctrine and NPR, you can say it! Be sure of one stuff, If you think to have already discovered the most, never-ever cry for RAD: impossible! Happy software building to everyone and take it easy! See you next time in the caffe'..
Peer-to-peer web clients - the birth

We are talking about a three card games - eheh.

The first thought we came in our minds was "One moment, what about connecting the obj serialization of Javascript to the drag-n-drop features of the browsers by the gui?". The problem that we soon realized was that the javascript serialization has very limited capabilities on Javascript objects. And here came in handy the hidden card: the serialize-javascript library with full object serialization support produced by Yahoo, etc.

Abstraction is a fearful playground

Today, everything appears too simple: you imagine it, you write down the code and you forgot it. One day you face a true application for that code but you just remember its big box shadow.
Delegating hardware ownership, uh?

I talked with my doctor who have a nice pc with a flat screen inside the office, and when the subject went on having his own tablet sky became dark and thunders blow out, "why I have to own my 2 years tablet? I'm just fine with my technology!"

Then an other question that soon arise is why it professionals need to invest their own money buying stuff every two years while doctors do not?

Here all the matter popping up turn around the matter of the so defined "rented technology" and the business environment conditions where we all do our own interests. It sounds enough clear that partisan interests pushed us our stay in this unequal realm.

Indeed, I suggest that any personal hardware ownership should be delegated to organizations and business interests who want this realm.
